James W. Stephens D.O.
Board Certified, Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine

I am a native of Anadarko, OK. I received my undergraduate degree from Oklahoma State University. I attended the OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine and went on to complete both my anesthesiology residency and interventional pain fellowship at OU Health Sciences Center. I was lucky enough to spend a large portion of my pain fellowship with private practice pain physicians who volunteered their time to teach me. I enjoy taking care of my patients. My goal is not only to lessen your pain but figure out why you are in pain. I feel that every pain physician must be an expert diagnostician. In order to be that, you not only have to have excellent medical knowledge but you also have to listen to your patients. I enjoy my specialty and helping patients live happier, healthier lives. I practice the full scope of interventional pain management. I have special interest in minimally invasive surgical treatments for pain as well as injection therapies. I am a national expert in the minimally invasive treatment of lumbar spinal stenosis. I keep up with the latest treatments for pain, analyze them, and implement them in my practice when it is the right choice for my patients. I enjoy the practice of medicine and read and research new ways to help my patients daily. My goal is always to decrease pain and improve function utilizing the least invasive method possible.
Besides my medical practice, I am busy at home, where I enjoy spending time with my family which includes my wife and three young children. We enjoy spending time outdoors and exploring our favorite getaway, Beavers Bend State Park.
